Light, Fun Christmas Reads

Light, Fun Christmas Reads

I don’t know about you, but this year, my family and I were so ready to turn our attention to Christmas. So much so that we put up and decorated our tree weeks earlier than usual. There is just a heaviness in the world right now, and it felt good to pull out the Christmas decorations early and bring some holiday joy and beauty into our home sooner rather than later. And looking around our neighborhood the past few weeks, it seems we’re not the only ones taking that approach.

Typically at Christmastime, I love reading holiday-themed novels and novellas. The more, the better! Usually by now, I’ve gotten a long list together or already ordered several books, but this year I’m running behind and only have a few lined up. I’ve been busy trying to map out our holiday fun. I want to plan plenty of memory-making festivities because it’s the last Christmas our Big Kid will be here before leaving our nest (more on that in a future post). I’ll be lucky to squeeze in reading a handful of light, fun holiday reads.

So, in addition to the few Christmas novellas I plan to read this holiday season, I am looking forward to reading the 12 Days of Christmas short, short stories Spark Flash Fiction will be sharing on social media beginning this Friday (as in, tomorrow)! During the 12 Days of Christmas event, Spark will be publishing a sweet, romantic, holiday-themed story of 1,000 words or less each day from December 1-12. My story, Love in the (Saint) Nick of Time will be published next Wednesday, December 6. I hope you’ll check it out on Instagram, along with the eleven other light, fun Christmasy stories.

And, in case you’re wondering, the very few books that have made my Christmas TBR are The Holiday Exchange, by Jordan Milsaps, and Holiday Menace, a collection of romantic suspense novellas by multiple authors. I’m looking forward to all of these holiday-filled fast reads!

How about you, friends? Will you carve out time over the holidays to read? Do you enjoy reading Christmas-themed books at Christmastime? Any recommendations you’d like to share?
