I’m Co-Teaching a Class on Flash Fiction Tonight

The 540 Writing Community is a big part of my writing life; I’ve mentioned it before. It’s a wonderful group of fellow writers, editors, agents, and other industry professionals. The group hosts daily write-ins, and each Thursday evening the 540 offers an educational presentation.

Tonight, I’m joining my friend Sophia L. Hansen to present on Flash Fiction. I’m both nervous and excited. Sophia serves on the editorial team of Havok Publishing, which publishes flash fiction stories in the speculative, thriller, fantasy, sci-fi, and mystery genres. Havok is a sort of counterpart to Spark. Sophia and I will be teaching the FUNdamentals of Flash Fiction, and I’ll specifically focus on romantic flash fiction (naturally) and introduce our participants to Spark.

We’ve had a lot of fun working through our presentation, determining the best format and structure, and fine-tuning our timing. I feel much more comfortable now than when Sophia invited me to co-teach with her. Our presentation is well done, and I hope our attendees will garner useful tidbits. I’m excited to share my love for flash fiction and encourage others to try writing it. And I’m looking forward to exploring the many ways writers can pack a romantic punch into 1,000 words or less.

If you’re interested in joining our meeting tonight, you can join the 540 Writers Community here. If you can’t make it live, the recording will be posted on our members-only YouTube channel, so make sure to join to gain access. I hope to see you there, friends!
