A Bible Verse for a Happy Thanksgiving

A Bible Verse for a Happy Thanksgiving

During one of my bible study meetings recently, we discussed how it’s nearly impossible to give in to fear, anxiety, anger, and other negative emotions when you’re in a gratitude mindset. The act of counting our blessings or existing in a state of thankfulness crowds out worry, depression, and frustration. And from a quick internet search, it seems sciences backs this up.

This is an important reminder for me, as I can struggle with negative thoughts, worry, and stress. But, boy, do I have many things to be grateful for—if only I took the time to focus on them. I’m setting my intention now to go into this holiday season with a grateful heart and will be working to condition myself to find blessings to count when I catch myself heading toward negativity.

I love 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 as a prompt to live this out. And, it’s a perfect fit for an official day of Thanksgiving. I wish all of my friends a lovely day filled with gratitude and good times with good people. What are you grateful for this Thanksgiving?

  1. So grateful for my faith, family, health, my life. I’m also grateful I didn’t have to cook this year and for being on Hawaii!!!
